When Agents Act, Who Answers?

🕓 9:30 am - 10:15 am📍 River Room 1 (Lv 3)
When an agent acts on its own, and something goes wrong, who's responsible, and how do you design the system so that question has an answer before the incident, not after. We'll look at where accountability actually breaks in agentic systems, why governance built for human-written code doesn't transfer, and how to design agents so that responsibility is clear by design, including where ethics has to be built into the system and where a human still needs to make the call. Whether you're writing the agents, approving them, or accountable when they go wrong, you'll leave knowing how to design accountability from the start.

It's such a privilege to be able to run this conference and DDD Perth would love to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land in which DDD is created, presented, and shared, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
