Building Software for Humans Who Are Already Busy

🕓 1:25 pm - 1:45 pm📍 Cygnet room (Lv 2)
Most software is built as if users are focused, patient, trained, and ready to learn a new system. In reality, users are busy, interrupted, under pressure, and just trying to get their actual job done. Busy users often won’t have time to help you design the perfect system. They can usually only show you where the pain is. This talk is about turning that pain into software that fits real workflows instead of creating more friction. We’ll cover practical ways developers can reduce cognitive load, improve defaults, automate repetitive work, make handoffs clearer, increase adoption and support human judgement where it matters.

It's such a privilege to be able to run this conference and DDD Perth would love to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land in which DDD is created, presented, and shared, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
