Managing your Manager to get Ahead
🕓 1:55 pm - 2:40 pm📍 Black Swan (Lv 2)
Your Manager can be one of the biggest blockers of career progression! Managed well, they also have the ability fast track your growth opportunities exponentially.
In this session, I will share my experience reporting to first time leaders, middle managers, and CEOs directly; across small business and global enterprise; covering local and remote reporting structures.
I will address the common management styles and provide practical advice and tactics to ensure your Manager becomes your advocate and sponsor!
Speaker
Donna Edwards
CEO @ SHOUTOUT | Finance & Career Mentor | Musician
With a 25 year career in the tech industry I have achieved the career, finance and life goals that equal success for me. Starting as a small business owner operator, then moving into the corporate world and doing a double Masters (MBA, MHRM) while working my way up to General Manager roles in tech consulting. In my 6 years at AWS I was able to successfully navigate the “L7” promotion process progressing across multiple roles and teams from a WA remit, to Australia wide, AsiaPacific and then into a global role. I achieved financial independence in 2025 and now live a 'work optional' life focused on my passions and values. I love giving back to the community and do a range of volunteering. I enjoy travelling regularly, am a musician and an animal lover.
