Story points are the most widely used tool by development teams to estimate their work. Since their use is so widespread, surely, they must be best tool for the job? But what if there was something better, something simpler, that not only provided better accuracy but eliminated the disputes over whether a story is worth 2 or 3 points ;) Throughout my professional career, I’ve been on numerous projects and repeatedly seen the flaws of using story points to provide dependable forecasts. This lack of accuracy led me to embark on a journey to find a better approach that can better answer the question of "When will it be done?" In this presentation, we’ll explore how tracking a few straightforward metrics can provide a treasure trove of insights. These insights will not only help you improve the way your team works and provide you with increased confidence in the accuracy of your estimation that story points could never match.
