Artificial Intelligence vs Emotional Intelligence

🕓 11:15 am - 12:00 pm📍 Room 5 - Black Swan (Lv 2)
The world is changing at an alarming rate. The rise of AI is undoubtably the most disruptive technology of our generation. Some welcome it and the advancements it can bring while others are worried that it will bring wide sweeping job losses. Particularly within the software development field, companies are already realising that the technical capabilities of a well-trained AI can replace whole teams of developers. Some prominent companies have already started laying off their development teams in favour of AI. How can we future proof ourselves in the face of this changing landscape? One of the key skillsets that will be vital in the new AI world will be people skills, being able to effectively manage both yourself and others. This is cold comfort for many of us who came into software development primarily because it was very technical in nature. People are messy, emotional creatures and for the technically trained mind, they can be all too difficult. The good news is that Emotional Intelligence is a set of skills that can be learnt and developed. In this session, we’ll discover what Emotional Intelligence actually means and how you can start developing this essential skill.
