At first, when we heard that DDD Perth was held in a stadium, we thought there was no way that could be true. Turns out it is. Well done, Perth! Once we learned the truth of the matter, we just had to come and check it out ourselves and share our zombie sock love. Yeah, we love zombies if the name didn't give it away. And we love our zombie sock merch. That, plus, our co-CEO Paul loves to hear himself talk and our other one, Demelza, loves a stage.Visit Patient Zero →

Beyond the Interface: Designing Systems, Not Screens
🕓 1:25 pm - 2:10 pm📍 River Room 1 (Lv 3)The carefully crafted interfaces we obsess over today may one day feel like VHS tapes or Walkmans, clunky relics from a time when technology worked harder for less. We are moving toward something smarter. Fewer screens. Fewer clicks. More prediction. Real user-centred design will focus on building systems that quietly understand, anticipate, and get things done.
In this session, I will explore how design and data teams can collaborate to create these systems. I will share practical ways designers can contribute to data projects through strategy, service design, and storytelling. I will also show how data engineers and scientists can empower design by shaping how information flows, building stronger foundations, and unlocking the potential of machine learning and AI.
Much like winter, Web 4.0 is coming, and we won’t get there by designing or building in siloes.
