Doing Science in the Cloud

🕓 2:20 pm - 3:05 pm📍 River Room 2 (Lv 3)
In the days before the cloud, when you needed to do complex scientific simulations you had to use a powerful workstation or a supercomputer. With the cloud, it is now possible to use high performance computing to run simulations at scale and using techniques such as parallel computing to reduce simulation time. In this session, {speaker 1} and {speaker 2} will talk through some use cases and show demos of how to use Microsoft Azure to run complex simulations in areas such as molecular modelling and computational fluid dynamics. There will be lots of science, and some really cool graphics.

It’s such a privilege to be able to run this conference and DDD Perth would love to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land in which DDD is created, presented, and shared, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
