Lost in Space: Risk, Reward and Women-in-Tech

šŸ•“ 11:50 am - šŸ“ M6
Launching sideways from Animation into the rapidly expanding Tech Cosmos has been the best adventure of my life. I’ve found my people, my niche and I’ve never felt more connected. But looking all around, this little rocket ship is not yet convinced it will be an entirely smooth-sailing journey... Whether you’re a Femme, Fabio or Face-Hugger brace yourself for a light-speed journey through the ins and outs of deciding to become a 'Woman in Tech'. Including learning to: - Burn the right Brain Fuel - Dodge the ā€˜Black Hole of Burnout’ - Identify Aliens and Imposters - Build a strong Ship Maintenance Crew - And convince the Mother Ship to keep course… no matter what it takes. I don’t have all the answers for creating a toolkit to increase diversity in tech. But I sure do have a damn good metaphor, decision-making trees, risk-calculating kittens, and plenty of space cake. So, sit back, relax and discover why I choose to #BeHer, even if I can’t always #SeeHer.

It's such a privilege to be able to run this conference and DDD Perth would love to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land in which DDD is created, presented, and shared, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
