What Chickens and Submarines Can Teach You About Teams
π 10:05 am - π M9
Many people believe that having the smartest people makes the best teams. Logically, it makes sense as the best people will enable you to do great things. But what if that wasn't the case? What if there was something else that makes up great teams?
During my career, I have been on projects surrounded by smart people, yet our achievements were mediocre. I have also been on teams with average people and we were a raving success! How could that be? What were we missing that made some teams so wildly successful, yet others were average? It was those questions that made me embark on my leadership journey to try and discover the secret to successful teams.
In this talk, we'll discuss what chickens and submarines can teach you about creating great teams. We'll go through some approaches you can take, some hard truths that we learnt along the way and lastly you will get some first-hand experiences from the trenches.
It's such a privilege to be able to run this conference and DDD Perth would love to acknowledge the
traditional custodians of the land in which DDD is created, presented, and shared, the
Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation and their connections to land, sea and community.
We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect
to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
