DDD Perth 2021: Call for Papers

Rebecca Waters
Chairperson
We are not about specific technologies or methodologies, and welcome anyone who is interested to talk to the Perth technology community about what they are working on or interested in. DDD Perth is a multi-track conference that is driven by the community. We strive to be an approachable event that is accessible to all members of the community.

DDD Perth 2019 Speakers on the main stage.
If your presentation is selected for the conference, we have an excellent speaker preparation program, and new this year, we also will record your talk ahead of time and publish it on our channels, giving you some fantastic collateral for future speaking engagements. But most importantly, you get to help with the reconnection of the Perth tech community after the year that was 2020.

DDD Perth talks can truly be on anything related to technology and working in technology. Some examples from recent conferences include:
- A Gentle Introduction to Quantum Computing (youtube (opens in a new tab))
- 10 UX Principles you should know about (youtube (opens in a new tab))
- Creating a ‘Best Place to Work’ Culture (youtube (opens in a new tab))
- Web, Wellness and Getting Sh*t Done (youtube (opens in a new tab))
- You’re Doing Typescript Wrong (youtube (opens in a new tab))
- Low Latency Designs from London Finance (youtube (opens in a new tab))
The submission criteria for DDD Perth are pretty simple: you must be able to make the conference in person and you need to write a short abstract and a short biography.
The talks are chosen via a popular vote, and your biography and name aren’t shown. People vote solely on the content of your abstract. We do workshops to help you write the abstract, and we proofread them all to help you make the best impression. We have a mentoring service too, just email us at info@dddperth.com and we’ll find you a mentor to help write your abstract.
Some benefits of speaking at a community conference like DDD Perth:
- People have received interviews and job offers from the audience. No joke!
- You can learn a new technology/topic you’ve been putting off.
- You can gain recognition as a community leader.
- You will meet new people.
- You will gain public speaking skills and experience.
- You’ll be helping reconnect the Perth tech community in 2021.
